Chiroubles La Grosse Pierre 2018 Domaine de la Grosse Pierre

£14.50 GBP

We have mentioned before that we are big fans of Beaujolais wines. They offer value, style and freshness, ideal for weather like this. The reds can be lightly chilled and make for a delightful garden tipple. With some careful searching there is so much quality to be found from this seductive region, at a fraction of the price of more famous Burgundy vineyards. We have new stock from the wonderful Pauline Passot, who in the 2018 vintage took over winemaking at her family's estate Domaine de la Grosse Pierre.

Pauline made wine in New Zealand and Chile before returning to Burgundy to make Beaujolais. Th family have a few tiny parcels in Beaujolais, amounting to 9 hectares, we have focussed on one of her Chiroubles and a Fleurie. They are both very charming wines, the Chiroubles represents excellent value, and although ready to drink now, it will keep for a few more years, with the light tannins softening. It has pure berry fruit and is juicy, I found it developed quite a bit while sitting in a large glass.
