The Ciacci family have farmed grapes, olives and grain in Montalcino, Tuscany since 1850 and have been producing Brunello di Montalcino since the appellation was formed in 1966. The Collosorbo estate is now run by Giovanna Ciacci and her two daughters, Laura and Lucia. They have 35ha of organically farmed vineyards on the calcareous clay soil typical of the region.
The Rosso di Montalcino is pure Sangiovese aged for one year in larger oak barrels. The perfume is rich and heady, with spiced plum and cherry fruit, earthy and tobacco notes. It has a generous and full presence in the mouth with a cocoa hint to its bold red and black fruits. A dream pair for roast beef or lamb.

Whilst packing up to move internationally a friend died and I needed to organise an emergency case of something luscious to support the wake. This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
