We've had huge success with the Bacchus from this producer, so thought we should highlight their Pinot Gris as it’s also very good, just a little more subtle. We met Paul from at the beginning of the year and tasted his range of wines from Heathfield in East Sussex.
This is made from 100% Pinot Gris. It was picked by friends and family in small quantities, and fermented and matured in tank to retain the fruitiness and freshness of the grape. It is dry, with high acidity but not unbalanced, it’s full of nectarine, melon and a hint of spice.
It’s a brilliant food wine and at only 11.5% ideal for lunch time consumption. It would be great with fish, chicken, or the new season’s asparagus I reckon.
Beacon Down Vineyard is a relatively new vineyard, with 18 hectares in East Sussex.
This is quite a serious Pinot Gris, it has good body, spice, fruit and style.
100% Pinot Gris
Dry - 4g/l residual sugar
Subtle fruits, lovely balance, high acids – a great wine to match with food.
