This is a powerful, full bodied wine, garnet in colour. On the nose, it gives off aromas of spice, black currant and kirsch. However, given time to age, these sensations are replaced with much rounder smells, such as leather and undergrowth. Because of the age of the vines its sourced from, the taste is incredibly rich, showing notes of dark forest fruit and chocolate. There are a range of pairings you could have with this, with duck, game and cheese being some of the best matches. Ready to drink now, but could also be cellard for another 7 years, so to evolve into an ever more complex wine.
