There was a time when most supermarket shelves were full of tasty, good value Bulgarian wines. This has sadly not been the case in recent years. So we were happy to be presented with this new pair of wines, and will now look for others from Bulgaria.
The Cote du Danube wines are made by Chateau Burgozone who are based on the hills above the Danube river, no surprise there! There are a lot of winemaking cooperatives in Bulgaria, Ch Burgozone make wine from their own fruit.
The Viognier is fermented in stainless steel and then kept on its lees for a short period of time to add weight and texture. It's peachy, and has concentrated fruit, but isn't cloying.
