The Ballands have been making wines in the Loire since 1650. The latest generation, Emile Balland, has created his own Estate which today consists of 7 hectares in the Coteaux de Giennois and a hectare in Sancerre.
Emile's father was instrumental in establishing the Coteaux de Giennois region as an official AOC wine region in 1998. Despite having been a wine producing region for centuries, it is still a small and relatively unknown area which lies in the shadows of it’s famous neighbours Pouilly Fume and Sancerre. To the consumer, this wine is a close match in quality and style, sharing soils types and climate with it's fancy friends. It basically translates as a right bargain!
Really vibrant gooseberry and grassy aromas. The palate is rich with lime and grapefruit flavours with a mineral edge. Very refreshing.
