Clisson, a town in the Loire Valley's Muscadet appellation, is where you can find Domaine des Cognettes. Nine generations have lived on the estate, which is now managed by the brothers Stéphane and Vincent Perraud. Since 2010, the entire vineyard has been farmed using certified organic methods and the wines, which are produced using the Melon Blanc grape variety, adhere to the highest standards and are some the best available from the Nantes region.
Made from grapes picked from the unique terroir of their Gabbro vineyard, grown organically and harvested by hand and vinified simply to express the purest quality. An astounding 45 months of extended ageing on the lees in underground vats gives this wine subtle candied citrus fruit notes and an underlying smokiness with a burgundy style structure.
Perfect for fish sauces and white meats.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
