From the southern reaches of Burgundy, this 2016 Saint-Véran from Domaine Sophie Cinier is a beautifully matured expression of Chardonnay, showcasing the finesse and quiet complexity typical of the Mâconnais.
The nose reveals layers of ripe orchard fruit - baked apple, pear, and a hint of quince, interwoven with subtle notes of hazelnut, buttered brioche, and flinty minerality. With time in bottle, tertiary nuances of honey and dried flowers have begun to emerge.
On the palate, the wine is textured and elegant, with a gentle creaminess balanced by fresh acidity. The finish is long and harmonious, echoing notes of lemon zest, toasted almond, and wet stone.
This is a superb example of how Saint-Véran can age gracefully. Ideal with poultry in cream sauce, seared scallops, or mushroom risotto. Drink now through 2026.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
