Tunila is made by Cantina Dorgali, a cooperative winery founded in 1953 by a group of local growers committed to preserving Sardinia’s winemaking legacy. Today, the winery unites over 200 small-scale farmers who cultivate their vines with care and tradition, focusing on indigenous grapes and sustainable practices. Located in the heart of Barbagia, Cantina Dorgali is renowned for its dedication to quality and for producing wines that speak clearly of their origin.
Made from Sardinia's signature Cannonau grape, believed to be one of the oldest varietals in the Mediterranean, this wine hails from the picturesque hills around Dorgali, where warm days and cool mountain breezes create the perfect conditions for ripening.
In the glass, it offers a deep ruby hue and enticing aromas of ripe red berries, Mediterranean herbs, and a touch of spice. On the palate, it's generous and smooth, with notes of black cherry, plum, and wild herbs layered over a backbone of soft tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is warm and lingering, evoking Sardinia’s rustic charm and wild landscapes.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
