The Fitapreta wines are becoming a quiet success amongst Butler's customers. Which is pleasing, as it is a bit hidden on the shelves amongst our many other Portuguese wines.
This modern, sustainable winery is based in Alentejo, a large wine region found in the south of Portugal. Fitapreta farm organically, they have vines on many different sites, and make this wine from a blend of several different grape varieties: Arinto, Roupeiro, Verdelho, Antao Vaz, Alicante Branco, Trincadeira-das-Pratas & Fernao Pires.
Full flavoured, textural wine with a fabulous balance of herbal and fruit characteristics of quince, orange peel and rosemary. Delicate and aromatic yet structured enough for charcuterie, strong cheese and olives. Autumnal foods like squash, mushrooms, roasted meats of pork or pheasant are also a natural match for this funky and delicious orange wine.

Whilst packing up to move internationally a friend died and I needed to organise an emergency case of something luscious to support the wake. Henry and Team managed to locate some difficult to find American wine which they kindly offered and I gratefully accepted. They truly differentiate by being able to surprise by sourcing stock very much outside the run of the mill.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
