North of the Cote de Nuits, just below Dijon, lies the commune of Gevrey Chambertin. A region renowned for its exceptional Pinot Noirs, which have great aging potential.
Pierre Damoy is another young winemaker who has taken on his Family estate and embraced the practices of sustainable farming, abandoning the use of all chemical fertilisers.
The vineyard "Clos Tamis" is a small area of only 1.45 ha. Vinification of the Pinot Noir grapes take place in stainless steel vats before aging in oak barrels.
2014 was a good vintage in Burgundy, exceptional for whites but favorable for red production also. A fruit forward vintage this wine shows a medley of summer berry fruits and red cherry with lifted notes of violet and sweet spice. This beautifully structured wine will develop well for up to 10 years and will handle bold flavours of wild boar stew, mushroom dishes and powerful cheeses.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful.
