Gian Luca Colombo grew up in the Langhe area of Piedmont. His winery Segni di Langa in Roddi, Piedmont, comprises of 4 hectares of vineyard land. Here Gian Luca takes an intuitive approach to his winemaking with a minimal intervention ethos. Using sustainable practices, he is working towards Organic and Biodynamic conversion. Respect for the environment, respect for the terroir and respect for grape varietal purity is paramount.
In 2014 Gian Luca won Young Winemaker of the Year and his first Pinot Noir release was awarded Top Italian Pinot Noir.
Here the Pinot Noir is known as Pinot Nero and these grapes are carefully selected and hand-harvested. A long maceration period of up to 35 days skin contact. Spontaneous fermentation. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months big oak barrel and clay. The wine is then bottled and only released after a minimum of 6 months of refinement. All his wines are made without filtration or clarification.
