From one of Austria’s oldest and most revered wineries, the 2017 Gobelsburg Renner Grüner Veltliner is a benchmark expression of Kamptal terroir. Sourced from the Erste Lage (Premier Cru) Renner vineyard, characterized by deep loess soils and a protected, southeast-facing slope, this wine combines elegance, precision, and aging potential.
The 2017 vintage was warm and generous, and the wine shows this with a rich yet focused profile. On the nose, expect ripe pear, yellow apple, and white peach layered with hints of fresh herbs, white pepper, and subtle smoke. The palate is textured and harmonious, offering juicy stone fruit and a saline minerality, balanced by vibrant acidity and a finely woven structure. The finish is long, spicy, and graceful.
A superb food wine, this Grüner Veltliner pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, veal, asparagus dishes, or richer seafood preparations. While drinking well now, it has the structure and concentration to evolve over the next 10+ years.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
