Another fantastic wine from Boutique Winery. Portugal Boutique Winery is a new project founded only a few years ago by two young friends Nuno Aguiar de Morais Vaz and António Olazabal Ferreira, linked to the Douro in its fullness. Their philosophy is to produce wines that express the full authenticity of the Terroir, the grape varieties and the harvest year, for this, intervening as little as possible in the winery
Fermentation conducted with indigenous yeasts in granite open fermenters with foot treading at controlled temperature, in order to obtain a slow fermentation with high extraction. 500 litre French oak barrels for 12 months.
It has layered dark berry flavours, with balancing creamy oak. It is complex, it keeps you going back to the glass to retry, it evolves as you work through the bottle. It is a Douro field blend, grown on granitic soil, aged in oak.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
