Sonoma County at it's very best - Head High's winemaker, Britt Richards, adopts an inherently pure and sincere approach in crafting the Head High Wines, centring on accentuating the fruit's aromatic qualities inherent in each varietal. The vineyards tended by the growers are cultivated with consistent clonal selections, yet the diverse mixture of weather, soil conditions, and sun orientation yields distinct outcomes. This intricate interplay results in a dynamic compilation of each varietal, composed entirely of grapes originating in close proximity to the ocean's invigorating breezes – a fundamental factor in cultivating Chardonnay and Pinot Noir within Sonoma County. Britt's winemaking philosophy grants the fruit the liberty to sing its own melody, displaying the unique story of each wine.
A delicious Pinot Noir, testament to the excellent quality of the top Sonoma County vineyards the fruit is sourced from. With 10 months ageing in French oak barrels, 25% new wood, this delivers a lot of luxury for a very reasonable price (especially by California standards!)
Ripe and attractive red cherry and strawberry fruit is complemented by a dusting of woody spices on the nose. Sumptuous and easy to drink, with light tannins and a great abundance of plush red fruits on the palate. A delightful match with a simple roast chicken.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
