In situ is a family owned winery based in San Esteban in the Aconcagua valley, Chile. Carmenere is a grape variety native to Bordeaux in France but now has found its home in Chile,

We have a new everyday drinking Carmenere from Chile. Carmenere is a grape variety which is creating a bit of interest with our customers. It's firm in structure, but coated with opulent dark berry fruit and a light creamy finish.

The wine is made by Vina San Esteban Vineyards who are based in the Aconcagua Valley in central Chile. This particular wine comes under the In Situ label, which is used for the terroir based wines. These are wines from vineyards at the most eastern point of the river valley, where the fruit gets nicely ripened in the warm day time temperatures, then rests during the cool night time breezes, which helps to preserve freshness and aroma. The vineyards are in amongst local cactus plants.

We have our own cactus, which we have nurtured from something the size of a ping pong ball, it is now a deadly weapon so taking this picture was a dangerous game to play.
