Julia Melo Kemper left her life as a lawyer in Lisbon in 2003 to follow her dream and her family's passion, moving to the Quinta do Cruzeiro, tucked between mountains in the Dao region. In her desire to express the qualities of this unique site, with its decomposed granite soil and balanced continental climate, the estate is farmed under organic and biodynamic philosophy. All of her wines are released with extended bottle age to ensure that customers are able to experience them at optimal maturity, a rare treat in the world of wine!
The Elpenor Alfrocheiro is an excellent value wine that displays the effortless drinkability of this native Portuguese variety.
The attractive bouquet combines ripe red berries, rosemary and orange peel, with an intriguing hint of pine. Beautiful silky tannin and great freshness balance the fine ripe fruit perfectly on the palate, making for a red that is easy to drink alone or with poultry and tomato-based dishes.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
