There's a lot of excitement around Txakoli (pronounced Chakoli) in the Bay of Biscay at the moment. The Atlantic region, and its native Hondaburri Zuri grape, hit all the hot trends in white wine right now - light, mineral, piercingly clean, food-friendly and low-alcohol.
All of these qualities sing in this K Pilota Txakoli, made from Bodega K5's newer vines. It's a quality wine but so easy-drinking, showing great cool-climate citrus, apples, pears and white flower character, but also a beautiful satiny mouthfeel from the natural fermentation and five months resting on its lees.
Particularly good with snacks and light meals, from native Spanish tapas and pintxos to sushi, seafood, fish and white meats.
