A farming family in Piemonte since the early 1960s, they began making wine from Moscato in the 1970s before their first reds from Barbera in the 1980s. Their first Barbaresco was produced in 1995 - from the Gallina cru that they still make to this day.
A greatly awarded winery, known for their modernist style of Nebbiolo, utilising small French barrels for aging to give a softer, richer and more plush texture to the often-raspingly tannic variety.
We are delighted to be able to offer this wine with substantial cellar age, giving you the opportunity to try this wine having realised its full potential.
Layers of developed savoury, woody and earthy aroma compete for your attention with rich ripe blackberry and plum fruit, notes of wildflowers and a touch of vanilla and spice remaining from the perfectly integrated oak. Immensely concentrated and long on the palate, with a charming freshness remaining despite the many years of age.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
