This wine showcases the most elegant elements of the Chianti Classico style. Made by Villa Le Corti, in the north of this iconic Tuscan sub-region, it's sourced from organic vineyards where the vines are trained low to the ground, giving the grapes extra ripening potential from heat radiating from below.
Sangiovese is, of course, the hero here, but there's a small percentage of Colorino to add depth and structure. Oak is not part of the story - the wine is aged for a year in cement vats.
What this means for the wine is vitaility. It's has a brilliant ruby sheen and a divine nose of violets, red cherries, tangy orange zest and pepper spice. In the mouth it's all juicy pomegranates and red plums with a balsamic edge to the ever-so refined tannins. The peppery finish freshens things up for the next sip, which won't be long coming.
