The Loimer estate finds its home in the sun-drenched Kamptal region of Lower Austria, situated to the northwest of Vienna. A distinct feature of Fred Loimer's approach sets him apart from many Austrian vintners who lean towards a luscious, sweet Alsace-style. Instead, Loimer focuses on achieving full grape ripeness in the vineyard while intentionally fermenting the wines to a dry state. This particular technique yields wines, exemplified by the Loimer Riesling, that showcase his characteristic precision, liveliness, and equilibrium on the palate. Fred Loimer's journey into the world of wine was catalyzed early in his life, when his father transformed the family's agricultural domain into a thriving winemaking enterprise.
Since 2006, both the vineyard and cellar practices have adhered to the principles of biodynamic viticulture, underlining the commitment to holistic and sustainable winemaking practices that resonate with the land and its inherent rhythms.
A restrained nose of fresh apricot and white stone fruit develops into youthful lime perfumes. On the palate, the Loimer Riesling has a crunchy acidity and lots of texture. Light-bodied, the wine is balanced and has a medium to long finish.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
