Maison Roche de Bellene Bourgogne Blanc 2008

£26.00 GBP

Maison Roche de Bellene, named after the Roman word for the town of Beaune, is the négociant business of Nicolas Potel. He has been specialising in sourcing parcels of older Burgundies’ from accomplished producers who have stashed away various gems from their best vineyards over the years. Nicolas Potel is a quality winemaker, producing both red and white Burgundies.

He earnt winemaking experience around the world before returning to Burgundy, to take over his father's estate Pousse D'Or. Nicolas now has his own domaine, which comprises 18 hectares of small parcels of vines. He also buys in fruit from top quality producers to make wines under the Maison Roche Bellene range

This wine is now over ten years old, it is 100% Chardonnay and is drinking beautifully. Potel makes wines which are elegant in style, not over oaked or over extracted. This one has fresh acidity, it has tangy tropical fruit flavours with a citrus background. It's flavoursome without being too heavy or cloying. It's a very elegant white wine and a great opportunity to try an aged white burgundy which doesn't break the bank.
