Maison Trenel Morgon Cote du Py 2019

Established in 1928 in Charnay-lès-Mâcon, Maison Trénel stands as a prominent figure among the esteemed Beaujolais houses, responsible for crafting seven out of the ten Beaujolais Crus. Their vineyards are of exceptional quality, boasting vines aged between ten and sixty years that are even used for their Beaujolais villages wines. In 2015, Michel Chapoutier took the helm of Trénel, ushering in a new era of winemaking excellence. Under his guidance, the wines have achieved remarkable heights, with a heightened focus on accentuating the unique characteristics of each vineyard plot.

For the creation of their sought-after cuvée, Trenel meticulously selects grapes from the revered terroir named Côte du Py, nestled in the charming hamlet of Morgon. This picturesque hill, resting 300 meters above sea level, basks in abundant sunlight from its east and southeast orientation. The winemaking process involves a meticulous whole bunch maceration lasting 6-8 days, followed by maturation in tanks and seasoned barrels for a duration of 4-5 months before the bottling phase.

The resulting wine showcases a deep, regal purple hue, accompanied by captivating scents of violets and black cherries. The palate exudes liveliness, featuring gentle tannins, a distinct mineral finish, and an impeccably balanced profile.
