Since the 11th century , an indissoluble bond has united the Mazzei family with Tuscany and wine . Ser Lapo Mazzei is the author in 1398 of the first known document for the use of the denomination "Chianti" and in 1435, when his niece Madonna Smeralda Mazzei marries Piero di Agnolo da Fonterutoli, the estate becomes a family heritage. Since then, for 24 generations , the Mazzeis have been producing wine at Castello di Fonterutoli which, despite the recent expansions, still remains the beating heart of the company.
“Concerto” was born in 1981 on the wave of a viticulture with still unexpressed potential, which experimented with new forms of training and new blends including also non-native varieties; he was one of the forerunners and top 10 protagonists of the phenomenon of the so-called "Super Tuscans."
A powerful red indicative of the style. Think vanilla and tobacco wrapped in dark fruit.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
