Domaine Charton's Mercurey 1er Cru 'La Chassière' 2016 is the result of a family legacy and over three generations of viticulture knowledge. Farmed sustainably, the prime terroir of Côte Chalonnaise gives this wine its distinct character and complexity. Careful soil maintenance ensures the vineyards' roots have access to the nutrients they need to produce a truly remarkable wine.
The entirely destemmed grapes ferment for around 20 days before maturation in barrels (some 20% to 30% new) from Tonnellerie Chassin, which marry beautifully with the wines. The result is melting tannins and an abundance of juicy fruit.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
