Initially professionals in other fields, they had much to learn about winemaking when arriving in Stellenbosch. Through hard work and support from friends both near and far, They have created a line of wines to be proud of, and a community that spans the globe. Family is the heart and soul of this business. M’hudi’s story embodies the promise of South Africa, found in its townships, vineyards, and everywhere in between.
M’hudi reds are often described as "rich"—deeply textured and structurally intense. This Cabernet follows that tradition but adds elegance and refinement. It is not merely dense, impenetrable, and overripe. The wine exhibits a deep purple core transitioning to a garnet rim, with a nose rich in cassis, blackberry, capsicum, tomato-leaf, and cigar-box aromas. The palate is powerful, filled with ripe, mouth-filling tannins and flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant, and cigar-box. Twelve months of barrel-aging helps to soften the tannins, making this wine wonderfully approachable now. However, it promises a happy 10 years ahead, at least.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
