Pedro Coelho embodies a remarkable ethos in his winemaking philosophy. The name "Pormenor" translates to "the little things," a reflection of his unwavering dedication to attention to detail in every aspect of his craft. It's also a nod to his keen awareness of the small nuances that can ultimately make a world of difference in wine.

Pedro's winemaking approach is decidedly hands-off, with a primary focus on expressing the terroir rather than emphasizing specific grape varieties. His wines hail from traditional, field-blend vineyards, and he brings a wealth of knowledge acquired from training with various wineries around the world. When Pedro embarked on this venture, he started from scratch, lacking his own vineyards in his native Douro region. He subsequently sought out several parcels of old vines throughout the Cima Corgo region, each characterized by subtle differences in altitude, orientation, and soil composition. Naturally, these parcels also feature distinct grape varietal compositions. Pedro's mission with each parcel is to unlock its true potential and convey its unique origins.

The Ginga is his addition to the range of 'Nat Cool' wines started by legendary Douro winemaker Dirk Niepoort, a litre bottle of deliciously juicy natural red. Sourced from a mixed field blend vineyard, fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and minimal SO2. 
A burst of succulent red plum, blackberry and strawberry fruit delights the palate with light tannins and lovely fresh acidity. Some floral and herbal notes, typical of Douro terroir come through on the nose as well adding a degree of depth. You can serve this lightly chilled and it goes great with charcuterie, salads and fresh cheeses - its the perfect picnic red!
