Seasonal Mixed Case

£69.00 GBP £77.43 GBP

The cold nights are drawing in so we've put together a mixed case with some great value wines we think are well suited to the seasonal food and weather. It contains 2 whites, 1 rose and 3 reds.

Hanewald Weissburgunder (Germany) - £14.50

The limestone soils give this wine a lovely stony, mineral character, which combined with apricot, flowers and ripe citrus fruits makes for a delicious and moreish combination. It is light in body, albeit with a textured mouthfeel and a lovely clean, lingering finish. The acidity is well integrated and brings real precision and balance.

A wine to drink on its own as an aperitif, or with foods that are hard to pair with, particularly white game meats, root vegetables and mushrooms. A great all rounder.

Emile Balland le Balbuzard Sauvignon Blanc (France) - £10.99

It offers a really pocket friendly Sauvignon Blanc that is refined, fresh and minerally.

We import this wine so its not available in many places it is superb value and great quality for the price.

Le Rollier rose (France) - £9.99

A fabulously priced, Provence style rose. Brimming with white peach, citrus and red fruits. Light, fresh and quaffable. A really good pairing with any tomato based dishes.

Lacuesta Rioja Crianza (Spain) - £14.50

This is a modern wine from a very historic producer. The Crianza has been aged for 18 months in American oak barrels, and 6 months in bottle before release. The oak adds vanilla, spice and a creaminess, which is backed up with ripe berry fruit.

Pacha Carmenere (Chile) - £14.50

This Carmenere is a big wine, it has a deep colour, the nose and palate are packed with dark fruits, with hints of black pepper. It has been aged in oak which adds layers of vanilla and spice. This drinks really well now, but will continue to develop if kept for a few years. Ideal with winter stews and casseroles.

Gran Passione (Italy) - £13.99

Gran Passione Rosso is a blend of the international Merlot grape and local variety Corvina. The fruit is harvested on two occasions, half at optimal ripeness, and the other half a month later when the grapes have dried out a bit, which decreases the acidity and the water content, and concentrates the sugars.

It's full of rich, luscious, ripe dark cherries, plums, vanilla and spice.

A wonderful food wine, perfect with ragu, roasted or grilled meats or mature hard cheeses.
