Poggio del Lamentano Vino Rosso 2020

This new wine from Bolgheri, Tuscany, has a compelling backstory. Davy Zyw, a wine industry professional (and Plumpton alumni) with an impressive background, is the driving force behind it. His grandparents acquired the Poggio Lamentano farm in Bolgheri decades ago, primarily known for its olive oil production but also possessing great potential for winemaking. Recognising the estate's advantageous location on a hill and its proximity to exceptional wine producers, Davy joined forces with local winemakers Luca Marrone and Giorgio Meletti Cavallari to create an extraordinary Tuscan wine. The debut vintage of this wine, produced in 2020, is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese, showcasing a distinct style without any oak influence commonly found in the renowned "super Tuscans" of the region. Notably, Davy's personal battle with Motor Neurone Disease since 2018 has driven him to dedicate the proceeds from this inaugural vintage towards further research into this incurable neurological condition

Only a limited production of just 1333 bottles, each meticulously crafted and individually numbered and signed. This inaugural vintage is a harmonious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese, sourced from organic vineyards situated on picturesque hill slopes, some of the highest in the region.

Presenting a dark crimson hue, accompanied by vibrant purple highlights. The aroma is inviting, with a fusion of ripe damson and black cherry, accompanied by hints of wild rose, cracked black pepper, and tomato. On the palate, you'll immediately notice the wine's luxurious texture, showcasing the luscious ripeness synonymous with the bountiful yields of the 2020 harvest, coupled with a radiant shine.
