Rosso di Montalcino, Cerbaiona 2013

£36.95 GBP

Here's a Rosso di Montalcino that could give many of its big-brother Brunellos a run for their money. It comes from the small Cerbaiona estate in the northeast corner of the Montalcino commune, sitting nearly 400m above sea level.

This altitude leaves the grapes with good levels of natural acidity at harvest, which translates to excellent balance at the other end of the gentle winemaking process. 18 months' ageing in large oak bottes knits together the components of this deliciously concentrated wine - sleek red fruits, firm tannins, cleansing acidity and leesy, savoury notes.
