Jean Baptist Ponsot is a Family owned 8.5 hectare estate in the Rully appellation. They are the only producers in the region solely reliant on their own fruit production. The vineyard and winery are managed with organic and sustainable principles. In 2007 Ponsot ceased to use any weed killers, anti-rot and insecticides as a statement of the environmental commitment to the estate.
En Bas de Vauvry is a 2 hectare and 83 acre site, situated in the heart of the historic Premier Cru hillside of Rully, in the cote de Chalonnais and was acquired by the Ponsot family in 1910.
The Chardonnay spends 12 months in barrels and is then assembled in tank for 3 months.
Ponsot strives for wines which are 'precise, taut and ripe. En Bas de Vauvry present citus, apple and pear with the the wood influence coming through as toasty and creamy with notes of almond. It is dry and elegant, suitable for an aperitif or seafood pairing.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
