This is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Valencay in the Loire. It is made by a cooperative with only two members! They have 40 hectares, Sebastien Vaillant and Damien Bossier, both make their own wines nearby, but collaborate on this one. Valencay is unique as it has appellation controlee status for both its wine and goats cheese, which served together are a winning combination. The vines are situated on the typical soil of the area, not far from Touraine, clay and Silex (flint), which results in complex, minerally wines, even at this price. The clay helps add richness and depth. This was a challenging vintage with both hot and cold weather, so the yields have been reduced. But what fruit was left was extremely good quality. This has a good combination of apple and apricot flavours, with grassy notes and fresh acidity.
