Alphabetical White Vin Ordinaire 2017 (minimal intervention)
Made by two wine-loving friends in South Africa, Alphabetical's wines are unpretentious and delicious. It’s a blend of Rhone (France) grapes but in this case from South Africa. A touch of stone fruits and herbs on the nose - with just the right amount of fruit and character for foods like fish, chicken, or fresh pasta.
Blank Bottle Moment of Silence 2017 (minimal intervention)
Moment of Silence is a South African wine made by superstar winemaker Pieter Walser. He buys in the fruit to make this blended wine, Viognier, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. It has been oak aged in old oak and it is a rich, powerful wine. Some of the fruit comes from vineyards which are over 50 years old.
The Foundry Roussanne 2016
Ex Meerlust winemaker Chris Williams makes this wonderful Roussanne. It is 100% Roussanne fermented in oak barrels. It is long, complex, rich, and has hints of almond and cherry fruit. Very good.
Waterkloof, Seriously Cool Cinsault 2018 (minimal intervention, organic)
Sourced from old bush vines on the Heldeberg’s breezy maritime slopes. Here’s a seaside Cinsault of real character defined by its terroir. Bright fresh cherry fruits on the nose with a savoury, fynbos finesse. Seriously, it does benefit being cooled to the right temperature (10-14 degrees).
It is what it is Tempranillo Blend, Blank Bottle 2016 (minimal intervention)
This is the result of our first project with Pieter Walser, it is a wine unique to us with our own label. This is hopefully the first of many to come. This is a combination of three different grape varieties. Tempranillo, Nebbiolo, Carignan, I know, a combination much used nowhere, not.
Circumstance Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 (minimal intervention, organic)
On the nose there is ample complexity with notes of red fruit and pencil shavings, flavours of ripe blackcurrant and spice. A rich, succulent wine with smooth, fine tannins. The great concentration and fine tannins will ensure that it will only become more complex with age.
