The Liberator, Ep.35 'Dial P for Pinot' Pinot Noir 2020

This is a new arrival from our friend Richard Kelley AKA The liberator who sources small parcels of top quality fruit in South Africa and makes limited release wines. Only 1200 bottles of this were made and we are lucky to have a load of them.

The label is a nod to the passionate oenophile, film director and master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. His decision to secrete uranium ore within a bottle of 1934 Pommard as part of the plot in his 1946 motion picture Notorious, reflects his passion for fine Burgundy

In an early scene within the 1954 movie, Rear Window, there is another Burgundy mentioned, when Grace Kelly pours a glass for James Stewart and whispers with soft excitement ‘It’s a Montrachet’.

Except there’s an unexpected mystery here. The original movie was filmed in black and white but later ‘restored’ to colour when, if one observes closely, Le Montrachet miraculously turns from white to red…

The only magic here is the delicious soft, fruity juice inside this bottle. The perfect springtime red.
