We are loving these quality canned wines from Richard Kelley (AKA The Liberator). For this project he has commissioned a wine to be made, rather than liberating small and exclusive parcels of grapes. It’s intended to be sustainable and repeatable, a wine which isn’t subject to the finite quantities imposed on his Liberator Episodes or Special Editions.
Fruit from young Syrah vines is fermented in stainless steel tanks, using indigenous yeasts. 15% of whole bunches are included to help retain both fruit and freshness. After enjoying a two week post-fermentation maceration, the young wine was drawn-off into concrete tanks, stainless steel and seasoned barriques for malo-lactic fermentation, before being aged for a further 12 months and then bottled without filtration.
Rhone-esque red-black fruit and with an aromatic nose. A very pure representation of the Syrah grape. Youthful and vibrant, it is dangerously drinkable!
