Episode 12 – Napoleon Bona Part Four is 100% Muscat de Frontigan.
The inspiration for the title comes from the fact that Napoleon, during his five-year exile on Saint Helena found solace in consuming a bottle of Constantia a day.
The wine comes from Nederberg, from winemaker, Günter Brözel, who arrived from Germany in 1956. He dedicated himself to building up a broad spectrum of wines, made at a remarkably high level of quality and consistency. His 1983, Eminence, a Muscat de Frontignan Noble Late Harvest gained great critical acclaim and was sold exclusively at a Nederberg auction.
Through a chance meeting, Rick acquired the 2019 vintage Muscat de Frontignan... from the very same winemaker. Only 1200 half bottles have been released. Here is an opportunity to step back in time and enjoy a very rare wine at a fabulous price.
