Valpolicella, Ca Fiui, Corte Sant Alda 2019

£19.50 GBP

Ca’ Fiui is a hillside place known since Antiquity where, amidst vines and olive trees, Corte Sant’Alda has set up its cellar. Sunny, well-exposed vineyards produce well-ripened grapes ensuring body and and equilibrium for this impressive Valpolicella.

Corvina Grossa, Corvina Veronese, Rondinella and Molinara are the main varieties.

All the grapes have organic certification and in recent years the vineyards have been managed on the basis of bio-dynamic agriculture principles.
The harvest, in keeping with tradition, is performed entirely by hand in early October.
Fermentation takes place in oak vats and is spontaneous (native yeasts); rack and return, manual wine-crushing, malolactic fermentation and retention of this wine in fermentation vats for at least six months all ensure excellent complexity where spices and austerity prevail over fruit.

Wine for the weekend

Going away for the weekend we needed some awesome red for my uncle as a thank you for the loan of his house, we also needed wine for ourselves, now being or leaning slightly on or to the tight side I asked the young feller serving me for a £25 bottle for the price of a tenner, he didn’t blink an eye but immediately went on a mission, I explained that I’m willing to pay more and he found some beautiful wines that we absolutely loved, he also told us all about were the wines came from with lots of other details, many many thanks, Vince, Linz.
