The Odeon range are Aussie producer Vinteloper's top wines, produced in tiny quantities to express the very best of chosen grape varieties. The Shiraz is a selection of the best fruit from two Adelaide Hills vineyard sites, fermented with wild yeast and aged for 20 months in large new French oak barrels. Described by the makers at Vinteloper as their ‘best ever released’ and one of only 1000 bottles made.
The nose opens with an enticing bouquet of dark berries, including blackberries and ripe plums, alongside notes of cracked black pepper, clove, and subtle oak influences, providing a sense of spice and complexity.
On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with smooth, velvety tannins and a balanced acidity that enhances its freshness. Flavors of black cherry, cassis, and hints of mocha are layered with earthy undertones and a touch of licorice, offering a rich yet refined experience. The finish is long, with a lingering touch of dark chocolate and a gentle savory quality that invites another sip.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
