Bernhard Ecker is the current head wine maker in a long list as his family have been making wine for 400 years. Based in the Wagram region just to the west of Vienna, the climate is very similar to Burgundy which leads the region to be very good for expressive styles of red and rich white.
The Donatus is a blend of Zweigelt and St.Laurent, The vines were planted in 2015 on sandy soils in the area of Schlossberg. The wine is made in a combination of stainless steel and neutral casks to keep the fresh red fruit, good acidity make this a perfect food match too.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
