Founded in 2005, the idyllic Bluebell Vineyard sits at the edge of Ashdown Forest in East Sussex. From their carefully tended vines they produce sparkling and still wines under the Hindleap and Ashdown brands respectively.
Chasselas (aka Gutedel or Fendant) is a grape variety best known in Switzerland and, as far as we know, Bluebell are the only vineyard in the UK to grow it. If the quality of this wine is anything to go by, we should expect to see more English Chasselas on the way!
It is a crisp and minerally white, with subtle honey notes on the nose. Clean and delicate on the palate, with citrus blossom and white peach flavour and a firm but not overbearing acidity. A lovely partner for light fish dishes or just a refreshing drink on a warm day.
