La Despensa Wines, nestled in Chile’s Colchagua Valley, is the brainchild of Matt Ridgway, hailing from Dorset, and his Chilean wife, Ana. Committed to organic farming, La Despensa defies expectations by focusing on varietals uncommon in Chile, such as Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault from the traditional Rhône grapes. They also showcase Chile's rare Sangiovese and the exceedingly scarce old-vine Pais from Colchagua, where a mere 50 hectares of these ancient vines remain in the entire valley. La Despensa prides itself on crafting high-quality, unoaked wines that are refreshingly drinkable, beckoning for a second glass.

Inspired by the Art Nouveau advertising posters of 1920s France, the label pays homage to that bygone era, evoking nostalgia for the south of France. Reflecting life in the vineyard, the label features their beloved dogs, cats, and vines—symbols of everything dear to them.

Characterized by its lovely acidity, silky tannins, and versatility, this wine—like all their offerings—can be enjoyed immediately or aged gracefully for several years. Its vibrant profile pairs exquisitely with Italian cuisine, particularly saucy pastas.
