At Butler's we are just as passionate about the environmental impact of the wine we supply as we are about it's quality and flavour. Over the years we have been working hard to minimise our carbon footprint and have also taken initiatives to cause a positive impact wherever we can. A recent example of this is our ink cartridge recycling scheme in partnership with Recycle 4 Charity. We will accept your old printer ink cartridges and send them off to be responsibly recycled and also donate £1 for every cartridge to Last Chance Animal Shelter.
Another recent improvement we have made to reducing our carbon footprint is that from March we will no longer be providing plastic carrier bags with purchases of our bottles. We are still offering cardboard boxes and paper wrapping, however we feel that reducing our plastic usage is a step in the right direction for us as a business and for the environment.
Sustainability doesn't just end with us; from organic and biodynamic to eco friendly and socially responsible, we love working with producers who care about the wider impact of their wines.
In wine production, a good rule of thumb is that the more you care, the better the wines you make.
What that means is that our decision to actively choose more sustainable wines is guided by quality as much as ethics. We believe in the drive to protect soils and biodiversity, to minimise water, energy and chemical use in the winery, to cut waste, to ensure wine industries worldwide benefit their local communities. But the other big reason we love sustainable wine producers is because their dedication to their craft is something we know leads to incredible wines.
All of our wines, from the cheapest to the most expensive, we know the winemakers and where and how they have been made.
Their commitment also inspires us to do our bit, from reusing cardboard boxes for our local deliveries to recycling everything in sight.
We even collect and recycle corks with Recorked UK.
Do good, drink great, buy sustainable. Simple really.
We have recently joined Ecologi who work with the reforestation projects across the world in association with the Eden project.
For every online order we receive (for local or national delivery) we will plant a tree. The current replanting projects are in the UK, Uganda and Australia.
We donate to the UK’s leading natural wine cork recycling program.
You donate, and they resell. For every cork collected, you donate a % of the sales go to their nominated charities. They also supply free corks to various charities and schools for use in craft projects.
Bring your ink catridges to our shop and we'll make sure they get recycled responsibly.
