Pieter Walser started Blank Bottle in Somerset West, South Africa, around 15 years ago. The way he looks and talks about wines is special, he tells stories and wants people to approach wine without prejudice. All of the Labels are designed by Pieter himself or sometimes friends and family. This release was made in honour of Pieter's old assistant winemaker Julia, as pictured on the label.
Don't Look Back is 100% Clairette, a white grape variety known for its inclusion in both red and white Chateauneuf du Pape. Here it is grown in the Swartland and Pieter has created a lightly textured, almost chalky wine. It displays both white peppercorns and freshly chopped green pepper with a hint of aniseed. There is balance with flavours of dried tropical fruits and confected lemons. A sherbety finish gives length to the delicate mineral texture.

Words can't express the brilliance of Butlers or the thoughtfulness, expertise and compassion of their team! Whilst packing up to move internationally a friend died and I needed to organise an emergency case of something luscious to support the wake. Not only did their wonderful team organise and deliver within an incredibly tight deadline they drafted a message for me too which I approved. Wonderful!!

Henry and Team managed to locate some difficult to find American wine which they kindly offered and I gratefully accepted. They truly differentiate by being able to surprise by sourcing stock very much outside the run of the mill.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
