Romain Guiberteau is a wine prodigy nurtured by Clos Rougeard, the esteemed and ardently sought-after French winery. Under the stewardship of Nady Foucault and the late Charly Foucault, Clos Rougeard orchestrated a revolutionary transformation of the Saumur region, particularly the Brézé locale, through the adept adoption of biodynamic farming practices and a philosophy of minimal intervention.
This very ethos, deeply imbued with meticulousness, was embraced by Romain Guiberteau when he established his eponymous estate in 1996. Since that moment, his wines have soared to reach a pinnacle of recognition akin to Clos Rougeard's, a recognition thoroughly earned. His remarkable interpretations of Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc are completely unique. To overlook the opportunity to experience these offerings would be a misfortune indeed.

Whilst packing up to move internationally a friend died and I needed to organise an emergency case of something luscious to support the wake. This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
