We’re very excited about this new arrival from Argentina.
It’s a variety called Criolla Chica from a relatively new winemaking project in one of the oldest growing areas in Mendoza. Obtained from the pergola trained vines of Don Carlos de Danielle, which date back to 1943, these vines recover the essence in the wine destined to be enjoyed by the locals of the region. With a focus to conserve the varietal expression and place of origin, these wines have been fermented in concrete eggs with native yeasts.Those vines have been tended with consummate skill and dedication by two brothers born in Mendoza - Hector and Pablo Durigutti - as part of their Proyecto Las Compuertas. This has seen them buy up old high-altitude vineyards in Lujan de Cuyo and nurture them back to their prime. The results here are pretty spectacular.
This wine is elegant, floral and spicy, with rose petal and summer pudding flavours, graceful and fine-grained tannis.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
