Since 1171 the Schloss Gobelsburg vineyards have been the property of Cistercian monks. In 1996 Michael Moosbrugger and Willi Brundlmayer took on management of the winery, and have elevated the level of the already prestigious name to among Austria's most important.
From a single vineyard, Ried Haid, the St Laurent Reserve is a red wine with a refined silky texture and alluring berry perfume. Aging is done in 600 litre casks from a local cooper using Austrian oak, which gives light spicy notes and helps to soften the texture. In a magnum its perfect for a special dinner party, paired with roast duck or coq au vin.

Whilst packing up to move internationally a friend died and I needed to organise an emergency case of something luscious to support the wake. Not only did their wonderful team organise and deliver within an incredibly tight deadline they drafted a message for me too which I approved. Wonderful!!

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
