Oldenburg Vineyards is situated in an elevated position in the Banghoek Valley, above the town of Stellenbosch. The elevated position in the mountains gives their wines a unique and refreshing coolness. The winemaking in the cellar is focused on expressing the best of this unique terroir through gentle extraction and minimal manipulation of the wines.
This is one of the most extraordinary varietal Cabernet Francs we have tasted - up there with the very best winemakers in the Loire Valley but with a distinct sense of its warm mountainous origin. Aromas of blackcurrant, rhubarb, jasmine and redcurrant are complemented by spicy hints of French oak and a stony mineral quality. The palate exudes freshness and balance, coating the mouth with flavours of forest fruits, thyme and lavender. Its perfect harmony of weight and elegance make for a stunning wine ideal for food pairing with strong savoury dishes, game in particular.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
