A new single cask release from Adelphi, this time coming from the Speyside distillery Benriach. Aged in one Pedro Ximenez sherry hogshead for 12 years before bottling just 275 bottles at cask strength.
The sherry character is intense and immediate, with dried apricot, toffee and prune aromas jumping from the glass. It really tastes like Christmas cake in a glass, rich and velvety, but there is a hint of salt and umami lurking under the surface to add further depth and interest.

Whilst packing up to move internationally a friend died and I needed to organise an emergency case of something luscious to support the wake. This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
