Chateau d'Aqueria Tavel Rose 2024

Château d’Aqueria is a family-run estate with around 70 hectares of vines, managed today by Raphaël de Bez alongside his father Vincent and uncle Bruno. While most of their production focuses on Tavel Rosé, they also craft small amounts of Lirac Rouge, Lirac Blanc, and Côtes du Rhône, all grown in harmony with the surrounding wild garrigue, which supports biodiversity and contributes to the wines’ distinct character. 

By appellation law, Tavel must spend between 12 and 24 hours on the skins before pressing, a key step that imparts both its striking colour and signature intensity. Château d’Aqueria’s vines surround the estate, rooted in the stony soils just outside the village of Tavel in the southern Rhône. The result is a rosé that captures the sun-drenched warmth and the aromatic freshness of the region.

Château d’Aqueria’s Tavel is a beautifully structured, full-bodied wine that shows just why this appellation stands apart from its pale Provençal cousins. A blend of Grenache Noir and Blanc, Clairette, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Bourboulenc and Picpoul, it’s a masterclass in balance and complexity. Deep salmon in colour, the wine bursts with aromas of ripe red berries, wild strawberries and hints of spice and herbs from the surrounding garrigue. On the palate, it’s rich and rounded, with layers of juicy fruit, a silky texture, and a long, savoury finish.

This is a rosé that loves food, try it with grilled lamb, spiced couscous, Provençal stews, or roasted vegetables. Its generous fruit and refreshing acidity also make it an inspired match for Mediterranean tapas or summer barbecues.
