From the sun-drenched Agly Valley in southern France, this characterful red comes from Michel Chapoutier’s Domaine de Bila-Haut, where Syrah, Grenache and Carignan thrive in rocky schist and limestone soils. Low-yielding vines produce concentrated fruit, while the region’s sunshine and cooling influences help balance richness with freshness.
Expect generous flavours of black cherry and blackberry, complemented by peppery spice and savoury herbal notes evocative of the wild garrigue surrounding the vineyards. Supple tannins and a firm, food-friendly structure give the wine plenty of depth without weighing it down, making it an excellent example of Roussillon’s combination of ripe fruit, complexity and drinkability.
A natural match for grilled lamb, cassoulet and roasted vegetables. Try serving it slightly chilled during the warmer months to bring its freshness to the fore.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
